The concept of the pocket bike is to take a professional racing GP motorcycle and bring it down in size without compromising quality or performance. On paper that is easy to say, but the task is a bit harder to accomplish. Recently, however, with the help of computer aided design programs and modern space age technology and materials, we are seeing some very hot super pocket bikes
Motorcycle racing is quite popular in the rest of the world and is not nearly as popular in the United States. In the US, many people still think that you need four wheels to compete. There is, however, a growing audience for two wheeled super bikes racing in the States.
Professional super bike racing became quite popular world wide over a decade ago. The bikes are small, lightweight overpowered machines. Most of the original Super Bikes were Italian Ducatis, and the class grew to displacements up to 125cc. The development of the newer super pocket bikes is changing most everything but the displacement, and one of the hottest classes of super pocket bikes has been a class called 110cc super pocket bike.
In the States we are beginning to see the emergence of greater interest in the two top displacement classes of super pocket bikes, the 110cc pocket bike class and the 125cc pocket bike. The two classes, as you might guess, are pretty close, but the 110cc super pocket bike class is much easier to get into for the average person. The 110cc is a more traditional displacement for the super bike class, as 125cc mini bikes only came in recently.
The 110cc super pocket bike is, compared to 125cc super bikes, something of a junior class. Yet they are fast, the ride is quite low to the ground, and around a track you will need to use your knee pads on the track surface to keep your speed up around the corners. The 110cc super pocket bikes are a real thrill to watch and to ride. They are also a good introduction to the world of super bike racing.
Off the shelf, or at least, straight out of the box some of these 110cc super pocket bikes are capable of speeds over 65 mph. That may not seem like much to someone sitting in a land yacht with the windows up and the A/C on. Rest assured that 65 mph is plenty fast with your engine between your knees and your head just a bit over two feet above the pavement, while you are negotiating turn.
Of course, if you are seriously interested in racing large pocket bikes, you will want at least two complete mini bikes, and spare parts. You will also want to either hire a mechanic or become one. Leathers and safety equipment will also be required, and they aren't cheap.
The order in which to enter the sport might be find a track, find a race, find a pocket bike, find a new lifetime obsession. Try it, you might get hooked.
